Air source heat pumps (ASHP) are an environmentally friendly, flexible and cost effective alternative to a gas or oil boiler.
The heat pump works by extracting and compressing heat from the air outside and then passing it into the central heating and hot water system for use in the home.
Although the heat pumps require electricity, 70% of the heat generated is free from the air, dramatically reducing your fuel bills.
Heat pumps offer reliable and controllable heat and hot water even at outside temperatures as low as -20c. Weather compensation technology is built in as standard.
Hot water recovery is as fast as a gas boiler with a water flow temperature of up to 80c without the need of an immersion heater.
Air source heat pumps have many advantages over traditional boiler systems: Uses renewable energy source3-5 times more efficient30 - 50% reduction in CO2 emissionsLow running and maintenance costsLow noise - unobtrusive and quietEasy to install, no ground work neededIdeal for off gas grid properties, no fuel deliveries or storageFlexible, can be connected to underfloor heating, radiators or fan coilsCan be connected to Solar Thermal system Single phase power supply with low starting currentCan heat swimming pools
As Wessex Gasworks is an independent MCS Accredited heat pump installation firm we are able to design a highly efficient air source heat pump system for your home or business. We are on hand throughout the process to answer any questions you may have.
Grants are available for air source heat pumps with the RHPP (Renewable Heat Premium Payment) of £850. Further payments maybe available from Autumn 2012 in the form of RHI ( Renewable Heat Incentive). For more information check the DECC (Department of Energy and Climate Change) website.
